Gualtieri

Gualtieri is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 6580 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Reggio Emilia in Emilia -Romagna. The municipality is situated approximately 22 km north of Reggio Emilia at the Po and directly borders the province of Mantua.

Traffic

The community is a station on the railway line Parma - Suzzara.

The former Strada Statale 63 del Valico del Cerreto of Reggio Emilia after Gualtieri is a provincial road today. The Strada Statale 62 della Cisa has become a provincial or regional road.

  • Giovanni Battista Aleotti (1546-1636), architect and engineer, built the Palzzo in which the municipality is located

In the media

The train station of Gualtieri has been the setting of the last scene in the French-Italian movie Don Camillo (1952 ), where Don Camillo is adopted on his train in the " temporary exile " Peppone and members of the Communist Party.
