Gusinoozyorsk

Gussinoosjorsk (Russian Гусиноозёрск ) is a city in the Republic of Buryatia (Russia) with 24 582 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located in the Trans-Baikal, about 110 km southwest of the Republic capital of Ulan -Ude, at the northeastern end of the Gussinojesees in the broad, traversed by the Selenga valley between the foothills of the Khamar Daban in the west and selenium Gage foothills in the east.

The city is the administrative center of the Gussinoosjorsk Selenga Rajons ( Selenginski rayon ).

History
