Guyans-Durnes

Guyans - Durnes is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Guyans - Durnes is located on 599 m above sea level, 8 km east of Ornans and about 21 km southeast of the city of Besançon (air line). The former village street lines extending in the Jura, in the west of the plateau of Valdahon, north of the Valley of the Loue.

The area of ​​9:03 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The main part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Valdahon, which is on average 580 m. It is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, partly by forest and rises to the southeast slightly. The plateau has no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. On the southeast of the communal land extends to the edge of the forest area Bois de la Bouhard. Here the highest elevation of Guyans - Durnes is achieved with 615 m. To the north, the municipality's area over the valley section of the Ruisseau de la Brême extends up to the height of Charbonnières- les- Sapins.

History

In the Middle Ages Guyans - Durnes belonged to the rule Durnes. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Since 1998 Guyans - Durnes is a member of the 44- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Pierre Fontaine - Vercel.

Attractions

The three-nave church Saint -Martin was renewed in 1850-1854 and enlarged. In the village is the so-called Château, a late medieval stately home, which was completely restored in 1880. In the village are farmhouses are preserved in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté from the 18th to 19th centuries.

Population

With 257 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Guyans - Durnes is among the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 282 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.
