Lavans-Vuillafans

Lavans- Vuillafans is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Lavans- Vuillafans is located on 625 m above sea level, 8 km east-southeast of Ornans and about 23 km southeast of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in the west of the plateau of Valdahon on the edge of the Bois de la Bouhard, north of Taleinschnitts the Loue.

The area of ​​10.16 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The entire area is occupied by the plateau of Valdahon, which is on average 650 m. It is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, partly by forest and rises to the east gradually. The plateau has no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. History

The territory of Lavans- Vuillafans was settled very early. On the corridor Sous le Tertre remains were a Gallic settlement site found. In the Middle Ages Lavans belonged to the rule Château Vieux- les -Fosses. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Today Lavans- Vuillafans is a member of the 24 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Pays d' Ornans.

Attractions

The village church of Lavans- Vuillafans was built in the 18th century. In the village are farmhouses are preserved in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Population

With 221 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Lavans- Vuillafans is one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 339 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1990s again.

Economy and infrastructure
