Gymnastics at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's vault

The finale in the horse jump the women at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held on 5 August 2012 at The O ₂. A total of eight gymnasts competed.

In the qualifying competition on 29 July 2012, eight gymnasts have qualified for the finals. The regulations stipulated that only two gymnasts per NOC could compete in the final. A third qualifier was not allowed to compete and was replaced by the gymnast who had cut off as the next best.

Each athlete completed two jumps. Each jump was on the difficulty (A -score) and execution (B score) counted and added to the total score possible penalty points were deducted. The final score was determined using the average of the two final grades. The points of the qualifying jumps were not taken into account.

Final result

Winner Sandra Izbaşa provided the total Romanian fifth gold medal in this discipline. The Canadian Elizabeth Black was in her first jump a rating of 0000 because they did not land on his feet. The second jump she had to go through due to injury and in turn received a score of 0.000. Oksana Chusovitina (GER ) was 37 years, the oldest participant, her teammate Janine Berger, 16, the youngest. As her colleague Bulgarian Yordan Yovtchev took part in Chusovitina here her sixth Olympic Games. In 1992, she started for the CIS and won gold in the team all-around. 1996, 2000 and 2004, she competed for Uzbekistan, since 2008 for Germany ( silver in the horse jump).
