Judo at the 2012 Summer Olympics
At the 2012 Olympics in London 14 competitions were held in judo from July 28 to August 3, 2012 at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre, seven each for men and women. The competition program was identical compared to Beijing 2008.

Qualification
Qualification criteria
At the competitions 386 athletes will participate. 138 women and 214 men will qualify directly through the world rankings, 14 athletes of the host NOCs, one in each weight class, are automatically eligible to start. A total of 20 places that awards the International Judo Federation ( IJF ) after completion of the qualifying phase by invitation. Each NOC may submit only one athlete per weight class.
For women, the first 14 athletes in the adjusted rankings were directly qualified in each weight class qualified for the men, the first 22 The additional quota places were awarded under continental point of view, at the basis of the adjusted world ranking ranking is created. Africa receives in the course of this 24, Europe 25, Asia 20, ten Oceania and America 21 starting places. Date of the world rankings was the 1st May 2012.
Qualified athletes
The native Kosovar Majlinda Kelmendi occurs in judo to Albania after the IOC planned participation of Kosovo and as Independent Olympic participant a flatly rejected. Overall, 116 NOCs could qualify on the world rankings for the Olympic competitions. Another 17 NOCs were given in June 2012 a starting place by invitation. Benefited from American Samoa, Honduras, Paraguay, Aruba, Belize, Monaco, Djibouti, Guyana, Rwanda, Burundi, Liberia, Togo, Benin, Burma, Lebanon, Cambodia and Afghanistan.
