Hægebostad

Hægebostad is a commune in the province of Vest- Agder in Norway. It borders to the west and north Kvinesdal, to the east by Åseral and Audnedal and on the south by Lyngdal.

Hægebostad 1659 inhabitants ( as of March 31, 2013). There are also about 800 Villas ( hytter ).

The together with its tributaries are conservation Lygna river flows through the municipality from north to south. This and the lake Lygne have a good stock of fish due to the lime content. In total there are 988 smaller and larger lakes in the municipality.

There is a rich wildlife with moose, beaver, deer, hare, grouse, eagles and lynx. In the north of the municipality are the pastures of southern Wildrenherde the country.

The Reichsstrasse RV42 crosses the municipality in east-west direction and the RV43 is in a southerly direction to connect to the E39. The Sørlandsbane holds in Hægebostad on Snartemo station. This lies between two of the longest railway tunnels in Norway, the Kvinesheitunnel and the Hægebostadtunnelen.

The Public Roads Administration Meteorological Institute ( Meteorologisk institutt ) Avinor and Statens operate together on the Staksteinliknuten (631 moh. ) Great weather radar. This was completed in 2000 and covers the southern parts of Norway and the surrounding sea areas.

Today's municipality includes the former communes Hægebostad Hægebostad and Eiken. These were summarized in 1963. From 1837 to 1915 they were already a common community and were from 1916 to 1962 independently.
