Hämikon

Hämikon is a village in the municipality Hitzkirch in office high village of the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland.

Until December 31, 2008 Hämikon was a municipality, as of 1 January 2009, the municipalities Hitzkirch, Gelfingen, Hämikon, Mosen, Müswangen, Retschwil and Sulz merged to form the new municipality Hitzkirch.

Geography

Hämikon located northeast of Hitzkirch in Lucerne part of the Lake Valley. The municipality of the village Hämikon, the southeast adjacent Linden (705 m asl ) and the group of houses Eichmatt include (620 m) 1.7 km north-west of the village. Within the community Müswangen the exclave Hämiker mountain was ( 823 m asl ). It is located almost 2 km from the village in a northeasterly direction. From the settlement area of 462 ha, 67.1 % is used for agriculture. Woods and forests covered 27.3 % of its territory, while 5.6 % is used as a settlement area.

The neighboring communities of Hämikon were Aesch, Altwis, Hitzkirch, Müswangen, Schongau and Sulz.

Population

Demographics

The number of inhabitants rose steadily until 1850. This was followed by the year 1960, a striking decrease in population by almost half ( -49.5 %). Between 1980 and 2000 was a strong surge in growth of 44.2 %. Since then, the population has stagnated again. The population peak in 1850, was never even approached.

Languages

The population speaks a high- Alemannic dialect. The last census in 2000 gave the following image: 97.52 % spoke German and the 0.90% Albanian and Portuguese as their main language / everyday language.

Religions - faiths

Originally, the entire population of Roman Catholic. Through immigration and leaving the church, the situation is today ( 2000) as follows: 70.95 % are Roman Catholic and 14.86 % Evangelical Protestant Christians. In addition, there are 7.21% and 2.50 % non-religious Muslims. The Muslims are mostly Albanians from Kosovo and Macedonia as well as Turks and Kurds.

Origin and nationality

End of 2006, of the 477 residents of 460 Swiss citizens and 17 ( = 3.6 %) foreigners. At the last census, 94.59 % were (including dual citizens even 95.50 % ) Swiss citizens. The few foreigners are in the majority Albanians and Portuguese.

Parish council

Every four years the council to be selected proceedings on behalf of the people, the community. He shall perform his duties part-time basis and consists in Hämikon of five persons. In the last local elections in 2004, there was no fight elections, but missed a previous member of the absolute majority scarce. In the second ballot, that person did not start and the council was completed by the election of a fifth member. Voter turnout in the first round of voting was 53.22 %.

The council consists (as before) of three women and two men, which is unusual for a small rural community with a conservative tradition.

At the last Grand Conseil election the CVP received as the strongest party 39.20 % of the vote. After almost level followed by the SVP with 25.68 % and the FDP with 25.24 %. About 90 % of all voters thus chose one of the three bourgeois parties. The SP reached a share of the vote of 5.43 %.

Traffic

Hämikon is located on the bus route Hitzkirch - Müswangen. In Hitzkirch is connected to the railway line Luzern- Lenzburg ( Seetalbahn ). The place is located on the main street of Hitzkirch to Muri AG. The nearest motorway connections are far away from the community. There are Sursee 23 km and Emmen - Nord, 25 km away; both located on the A2.

History

Despite its small population, we the place under the name Hammingchova as owned by the Zurich Bahnhofstrasse abbey in the year 950 mentioned for the first time. The gentlemen were only the counts of Lenzburg, since 1264 the Habsburgs. The small village belonged until 1415 to the Habsburg Office Richensee, then came to the city of Lucerne and 1425-1798 to the outdoor offices. Subsequently, it was until 1803 a part of the canton of Baden. Since then, it is again in Lucerne and indeed to the then newly created office high village.
