Retschwil

Retschwil is a village in the municipality Hitzkirch in office high village of the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland.

Retschwil was until December 31, 2008 a municipality. As of January 1, 2009, municipalities Hitzkirch, Gelfingen, Hämikon, Mosen, Müswangen, Retschwil and Sulz merged to form the new municipality Hitzkirch.

Geography

Retschwil is located 3.5 km north- west of the village high on the eastern slope of the Erlosen. Demographics

From 1850 to 1900, the population declined due to massive migration by 36.7 %. Then it stagnated for decades by a value of 160 residents in 1960 to reach the peak of the 20th century. Within 20 years they fell to a record low ( 1960 to 1980: -29.2 %), followed by massively to increase in the next two decades ( from 1980 to 2000: 57.9 %). Retschwil is not connected to the network of public transport. The nearest railway stations of Hitzkirch and high village (both on the railway line Luzern- Lenzburg ) is a few kilometers away.

The community is on the road high village - Retschwil - Ermensee. The nearest motorway connections are Gisikon on the A14, just 14 km and Emmen -Nord on the A2, 20 km or Sursee.

History

In a certificate of ownership from the year 1173 by King Friedrich I. to the canons Beromunster a Richartshoule is mentioned, by which presumably is meant Retschwil.
