Handball-Bundesliga (women)

The Handball - Bundesliga Women (HBF ) is the highest German league for women's handball.

In the Bundesliga come twelve teams in a league system in which every club ever denies a return match against each other club.

After a failed first attempt, the league is since the 2005/ 06 season into thirds after 22 matchdays: Places 1 to 4 determine the German champion, the teams in positions 5-10 play the further placements from, with the winner, the ultimate fifth-placed, a place in the European Cup wins. The championship playoffs are here played with semi-finals and finals.

The most successful club in the Bundesliga Bayer Leverkusen, followed by TV Lützellinden.

History

The title of German Champion in handball for women has been awarded since 1957/58. The Bundesliga was introduced in 1975 as the top division. In the first ten years the league was played in two seasons (North and South ) and the German champions in the play-off, where the top two teams participated in every season, is determined. Since 1985 there is the " single-track " Bundesliga. The only club that played all the previous 33 seasons in the Bundesliga, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, which is the record title holder with a total of eight league championships. The first two championships in the single track Bundesliga went to Leverkusen. The most successful clubs since the introduction of the single-track Bundesliga TV Lützellinden with seven and TuS Walle Bremen with five championships; of the contracts awarded 1988-1997 championship titles all went ten either Bremen or after Lützellinden that still triumphed in 2001 and 2002 twice. After the withdrawal of Bremen in the Bundesliga in 1998, the duels between the TV Lützellinden and HC Leipzig shaped the events at the top of the league; between 1998 and 2002 was named the champion either Lützellinden or Leipzig. It was followed by two debutants as master: DJK / MJC Trier and the FHC Frankfurt / Oder. 2004 saw the end for another top club: The TV Lützellinden the Bundesliga license was revoked. Social Commitment

The women's handball has the permanent action of " Handball helps " started for the German Cancer Aid. Substructure

1985, the 2nd Bundesliga was introduced, which has since played in two seasons ( North and South), in the years 1991-1994 in three seasons: North, Central, South. Since the season 2011/12 the 2nd Bundesliga is played in a season with 16 teams. This is followed by the four-track 3.Liga.

The two winners of the 2nd Bundesliga are promoted to the Bundesliga. The two last placed the 1st Bundesliga rise directly from the 2nd Bundesliga.

Explanation: The DHB Cup was first 1974/75 played out, one year before the introduction of the Bundesliga. Regional Champion before the introduction of the Bundesliga

The German championship in handball for women is played since 1957/58. By the end of the 60s the first champions were determined at the county level. The district champion played for the title of national champion, then a tournament played with the other national champions to the regional championship. The regional champions finally found the German champions. By 1964, in addition to the runner-up of the host association of the final round took part. For the 1975/76 season, the first two-track league has been introduced.
