Happy New Year (song)

Happy New Year is a song by Swedish pop group ABBA, which was first released in 1980 on their album Super Trouper. The lead singer Agnetha Fältskog is, in the chorus, the other members of the group can be heard.
Genesis
Happy New Year was again an attempt to write a song for a possible musical. The idea came to the two composers of ABBA, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson in January 1980 on a flight to Barbados. The central idea of the plot of the song was the New Year's Eve and the related atmosphere. In Barbados, the two musicians met on the British comedian John Cleese, whom they charged with working on the musical, which was later discontinued.
On February 11, 1980, started with the working title Daddy Do not Get Drunk On Christmas Day shooting. First, the music was recorded, , 9 April 1980 found the vocals with Agnetha Fältskog and Anni- Frid Lyngstad instead. Happy New Year was recorded in October 1980 as Felicidad in Spanish. For both language versions of a music video was posted on November 8, 1980, immediately after the release of the album, turned, which was then mixed with scenes from the resulting approximately the same time promotional film for the song Super Trouper.
