Helrunar

Helrunar is a German pagan metal band from Münster / Osnabrück.

Band History

Helrunar was founded in the spring of 2001 and in 2003 took the first demo Grátr on which was published in December of the same year and is now sold out. In summer 2004 the band signed their first recording contract with Prophecy Productions. The end of 2004 she took breath is to rush for a split CD with Nightmare, which was released in May 2005. In December of the same year they released their first regular album Frostnacht about the Prophecy Productions sub-label Lupus Lounge. In August 2007 the band played at the Summer Breeze in October they released their second album, Baldr ok Íss. On March 29, 2008 appearance on the Ragnarök Festival took place.

On 17 June 2008 guitarist Tim " Dionysos " spark announced his resignation from the band. As a replacement could not be found so quickly, the planned tour and all other concerts turned out for the time being. On 28 August 2009 Helrunar played with a new cast her first concert since one and a half years in the Time of the Wolf Festival.

On 7 January 2011 which appeared from Sól I - The thorn in the fog and Sól II - branches of remembrance existing concept double album Sól, reached its first part on 24 January No. 54 of the German Media Control Charts.

Style

The German, Norwegian and altnordischsprachigen lyrics are mostly of Norse mythology, which is why Helrunar is often associated with the Pagan Metal. Compared to many other Pagan and Black Metal bands the lyrics are as intelligent and profound. A significant influence make kennings dar. Musically the band from the Norwegian Black Metal of time from 1990 to 1995 is affected, especially the first two albums Helheim, Enslaved, Darkthrone, Satyricon, Ulver the first three albums and Taake.

The band name is derived from the 1997 published book by Jan Fries Helrunar: A Handbook of Rune Magic from; " Helrunar " means " The whisper of Hel ". The music of Helrunar conveys a cold atmosphere, typical black metal elements are complemented by clean vocals and acoustic guitar parts.
