Hendrichovce

Hendrichovce ( until 1927 slovak " Hedrihovce " or " Henrihovce "; German Heinrichsdorf, Hungarian Hedri ) is a small town in eastern Slovakia.

The community Hendrichovce lies in the valley of the upper Svinka, a 50 -kilometer-long, left tributary of the Hornád. The environment is used intensively for agriculture from 500 m to high altitudes. A few kilometers west of the town rises the to 1199 m high mountain range Branisko.

The National Highway 18 passes through Hendrichovce. She is one of the main roads in Slovakia and forms a portion of the European route 50 until the under construction motorway A1 ( section Poprad Prešov ) is completed, which is north lead past Hendrichovce and will take up a large part of the long-distance transport.

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1320.

In Hendrichovce live almost exclusively Slovaks. 99 % of the population profess the Roman Catholic Church.
