Geography

Geographical location

The community is located west of the A3 motorway in the district of Erlangen- Hochstadt. It forms with the community Großenseebach administrative matters.

History

1315, the village was first mentioned. Heßdorf was a Oblei of the cathedral chapter of Bamberg ( Bamberg Bishopric ) as a foundation of the Lords of Gründlach - Brauneck, which fell in 1803 by the main country comparison Prussia / Bavaria to Prussia. With the Prussian principality of Bayreuth, she came in the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 to France, and with the Treaty of Paris in 1810 Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Incorporations

On 1 July 1972, the until then independent municipality Hannberg was incorporated. On May 1, 1978, the congregation resolved Hesselnberg was added almost completely.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: Shared, top in gold is a growing, Covered with a silver slant bar, red reinforced black lion; split down the front in red, a growing silver spearhead. This spear, called a pig pen, reminiscent of the family of Stiebar. Back five times diagonally split of black and gold.

Regular events

On the second weekend in September, the Heßdorfer fair will be held in the marquee and in the club house of SpVgg Heßdorf.
