Geography

Geographical location

Hilzingen located in the western Hegau, about four kilometers from singing, in the valley of Rohrbach ( Rieder Bach ). The site is drained by the mill stream, which flows just below the village in the Riedersbach.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by the city of Engen and Mulhouse Ehingen, on the east by the city singing, to the south by Rielasingen- Worblingen and Gottmadingen, on the west by the Swiss municipalities Thayngen and beavers in the canton of Schaffhausen, and to the city of Tengen.

The municipality Hilzingen with the incorporated 1970-1974 former municipalities Binningen, Duchtlingen, Riedheim, Schlattmann am Randen and Weiterdingen include 23 villages, hamlets, farms and houses.

The coat of arms of Binningen is derived from the older coat of arms Im Thurn. Confusion may occur with the same name Binningen in Switzerland, however, which indicates a different symbol.

For the former municipality Binningen Binningen the village, the hamlet Hofwiesen, the courtyards and Sennhof Stoffelhof and the houses are Hohenstoffeln ( basalt works ) and Storzeln. For the former municipality Duchtlingen include the village Duchtlingen and the courts Altkrähenhof and Hofgut Hohenkrähen. The municipality Hilzingen within the borders of 1969, the village Hilzingen, the hamlet Dietlishof, the community part Twielfeld and the courts Katzental, Paradieshof and Riederhof include ( Riedern ). History

Hilzingen

Five found on Roman coins found dated Hilzinger district in a Nachlimeszeit between 341-354 AD, was discovered in 2009 in the new development area " Homboll ", on the northern outskirts of Hilzingen, skeletal parts from a grave Alemanni of the 6th or 7th century AD. This is part of a series of burial ground, which may have discovered already 90 years ago, but was then forgotten again. Only in this way it was possible that the excavator had at that time already demolished only ten of these ancient tombs in the construction work, even before the archaeologists could make haste. Since 2009, about 20 graves were found. They come from a cemetery in the 6th or 7th century the Christian era, and thus in the early settlement phase of the present-day village Hilzingen. The associated settlement could have located in the lower village near the mill stream. Another urban center of Hilzingen lay to the east of the village in the Upper Village, where a second cemetery of this period is known. The earliest grave Alemanni from Hilzingen comes from the residential area " intermediate paths ". The first mention Hilzingens as Hiltesinga dates back to 1005. According to the 1660 place of Austria went over to the monastery Peterhausen.

Parish council

Mayor

Mayor of Hilzingen is Rupert Metzler. On February 5, 2012 Metzler was elected with 38.75 % of votes in the second ballot for mayor and took office on April 1.

Castles

The municipal area of Hilzingen is the Castle Riedheim, the castle Hohenkrähen and the castle remains of the castle Gebsenstein, the Staufen castle and the castle Homboll. In the territory of the former municipality Binningen the disposed castles Behind Stoffeln, middle and front Stoffeln Stoffeln lie (see ruin Hohenstoffeln ).

Church

The parish church of St. Peter and Paul was built in 1747-1749 by Peter Thumb.

Museums

The citizen and peasant museum in the castle park Hilzingen documents the local and regional events of the Peasants' War in the years 1524 and 1525.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Hilzingen is connected to the national road network by the federal highway 81 to Würzburg. The regional transport mastered the federal highway 314 ( Lauchringen - Singen ( Hohentwiel ) ).

Hilzingen also has two airports. One is located on the outskirts of the core community Hilzingen, the other on the edge of the local part Binningen. Both courses have only a grass runway and are therefore used only by sports and gliders.

From 1913 to 1966, Hilzingen by the edge path (Singen (Hohentwiel ) - Beuren ) connected to the railway network. Since there is a regular bus service, today every half hour, from Singen Hauptbahnhof ( or from the bus stop singing State Garden Show ).

Educational institutions
