Holziken

Holziken (Swiss German: hɔʊtsɪkχə ) is a municipality in the district of Kulm in the canton of Aargau. It lies between the Uerkental and the Suhrental.

Geography

The village is located at the northern foot of the Stübisbergs ( 556 m above sea level. M. ), a spur of Uerknerbergs which separates the valleys of the Uerke and Suhre each other. The southern half of the township is very hilly and almost entirely covered with forest. The northern half, however, is a totally flat, intensively farmed layer called " hardware " that is drained to the west of the Uerke and to the east of the Suhre.

The area of the municipality is 286 hectares, of which 113 hectares are forested and built over 45 hectares. The highest point is located on the Stübisberg to 550 meters, the deepest at 435 meters in the Hard level.

Neighboring municipalities are Kölliken the northwest, mooing in the Northeast, deer valley in the east, in the southeast and Schöftland Uerkheim in the southwest.

History

1924 a Roman gold coin from the reign of the Emperor Vespasian was found, but there is no evidence of colonization.
