Leimbach AG

Leimbach (Swiss German: lɛim ˌ bəχ ) is a municipality in the district of Kulm in the canton of Aargau. It is located in the upper Wynental and is the third smallest in terms of area municipality in the canton.

Geography

The village is nestled in a small alcove of a lateral moraine, which is formed during the Ice Age, during the retreat of the Reuss glacier. The largest part of the municipality covered the steep western slope of the 787 meter high Homberg, but does not quite to the summit. Above the village is located at an altitude of 650 meters, the hamlet Seeberg. A small portion in the southwest on the other hand is completely flat and lies in the plane of Wyna.

The area of the municipality is 115 hectares, including 36 hectares of forested and built over 18 hectares. The highest point is located on 760 meters on the western slope of the Homberg, the deepest at 510 meters at the Wyna.

Neighboring municipalities are Zetzwil in the north, east and south, and Reinach Gontenschwil in the West.

History

The first mention of the village was carried out in 1300 in the Habsburg land register in the form used today. The place name is derived from the Old High German Leimbah what " Lehmbach " means. So Leimbach was taken on a perceived as muddy waters. In the Middle Ages, the village was in the territory of the Counts of Lenzburg, from 1173 in that the counts of Kyburg. After these had died out, the Habsburgs, the new rulers were in 1264.

1415 conquered the Swiss Aargau; Leimbach now belonged to the subject territory of Berne, the so-called Bernese Aargau. It formed an exclave of the judicial district Seengen within the Office Lenzburg, which was subordinate to the Hall Wylern. 1528 resulted in the Bernese the Reformation. For centuries Leimbach had the status of an autonomous Steckhofs and received in 1751 by the city council of Bern municipal law. In March 1798, the French marched into Switzerland, the disempowered " Gracious gentlemen " of Bern and proclaimed the Helvetic Republic. Leimbach has since been to the canton of Aargau.

The significant in the 19th century tobacco industry has disappeared decades ago. On 5 March 1904, the Wynentalbahn was opened. Since then, the importance of agriculture has declined, the inhabitants are based mostly on the major regional centers such as Reinach or Unterkulm. Even today Leimbach is a part of the parish Reinach and has neither a church nor a chapel.

The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is: ". In red white oblique Links flow, accompanied in chief of sechsstrahligem white star " The coat of arms image was first published in 1811 in the parish seal and has since remained unchanged. The symbolism is not known.

Population development:

On December 31, 2013 467 people lived in Leimbach, the proportion of foreigners was 12.6 %. At the 2000 census, 66.5 % were reformed and 19.1 % Roman Catholic; 2.4% belonged to other faiths. 97.1 % identified German as their main language, 1.7 % speak Italian.

Politics and Law

The Assembly of the voters, the municipal assembly, shall exercise the legislative power. Executive authority is the five-member council. His term of office is four years and he was elected in Majorzverfahren ( majority voting procedure) by the people. He leads and represents the community. To this end, he implements the decisions of the municipal assembly and the tasks that were assigned to him by the cantonal and federal.

For litigation, the District Court in Unterkulm is responsible. Leimbach is part of the justice of the peace circle Gontenschwil.

Economy

In Leimbach there according to census of 2008, around 120 jobs, of which 20 % in agriculture, 60 % in industry and 20 % in the service sector. There are three industrial firms in the village, a sheet metal and wire work, a precision workshop and a laser marking company. Most workers are commuters and work in Reinach and in other villages in the area.

Traffic

By Leimbach the main road 23 from Aarau runs over Beromunster to Sursee. The connection to the public transport network is carried out by a station of the Wynentalbahn.

Education

The municipality has a kindergarten and a primary school. All upper level of compulsory elementary school ( junior high school, middle school, school district ) can be visited in Reinach. The nearest district school (high school ) is located in Aarau.
