Hongkou District

Hongkou (虹口 区Hóngkǒu Qū ) is one of ten "inner" city districts of centrally-administered city of Shanghai in the People's Republic of China.

The district is bordered to the south by the west bank of the Huangpu River, that belongs to the Puxi side. Hongkou has an area of ​​23.48 square kilometers and 792 241 inhabitants (2003 ). The population density is 33 741 inhabitants per square kilometer.
