Hunfridings

The Rhaetian Burchard Inger, also Burcharde, were a noble family of the 10th century with possession especially in ( Chur ) Raetia on the Upper Rhine.

The family derives from Margrave Hunfried of Raetia and presented with I. Burchard, Burchard Burchard II and III. as the namesake of the race three early dukes of Swabia.

Due to the Leitnamens " Burchard " was adopted by scientists of the past incorrectly, the Hohenzollerns are descended from the Burchard Ingern. The ordinary number of Hohenzollern begins with Burchard I of Zolorin († 1061 ).

Master list

Speculation about Burchard III.

There is, as well as here in the master list, led again and again that Duke Burchard III. before his marriage in documents secured with Hadwig a previous marriage would be received from the children had emerged. This " first marriage " with Wieltrud a Immedingerin is scientifically more than speculation and can not be documented evidence. This theory also says that Emperor Otto II after the death of Burchard III. 973 the Swabian duke Otto I transferred title, who came from a completely different line (namely the Liudolfinger ). Had Burchard III. had a legitimate offspring, the Emperor had this can hardly go in the Duke succession.

Alfons Zettler writes in his "History of the Duchy of Swabia ": " But we have no more customer whether Burchard's marriage to Hadwig was his first, even if it or a distinct possibility of an earlier marriage children have emerged. " ( P.150 )
