Hyundai Getz

Hyundai Getz five-door hatchback (2002-2005)

The Hyundai Getz is a supermini car produced by the South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai. He arrived in September 2002 as a three - and five-door hatchback with three engine (initially only petrol engines) and also three trim levels on the German market. In spring 2003, was added an acquaintance of Kia 1.5-liter diesel engine.

The Getz has undergone a facelift in November 2005, which modernized the optics in the form of new front and rear light units and a slightly revised instrument panel and the engines have been improved.

In the late summer of 2006 followed the Getz Cross. This car available exclusively as a five-door model is different from the normal model with all-terrain look, which was achieved by a slight enlargement of ground clearance and Kunststoffbeplankungen around. Despite this appearance but also the Cross, like all Getz only front wheel drive. By September 2006, a total of 47,000 units were registered in Germany. With these sales figures of the Getz has long been the best-selling model in the program of the Hyundai Germany GmbH until replaced him the compact SUV Hyundai Tucson.

In South Korea, and a few countries, the Getz was sold under the name Hyundai Click ( 현대 클릭 ). 2006 to 2009 there was also a Venezuelan sister model called Dodge Brisa. In Japan, the model was known as Hyundai TB, which stood for Think Basic,.

The sales of the Getz in Europe was discontinued in early 2009. In other markets, including in the South Korean domestic market, the model will continue to be sold.

In the model range of the manufacturer's small Hyundai was launched to market as a replacement for the 25 centimeter shorter Microvan Atos and Hyundai Accent - positioned - a car of the compact class.

In July 2007, the Accent the larger Hyundai i30 in turn was set aside. Given the dimensions of some competitors such as the Opel Corsa and the Fiat Grande Punto (both measured in the length of about four meters) must be the new Hyundai Accent, which has become shorter in the new generation and has a length of 4.04 meters, the " large "and the Getz are attributed to the smaller compact cars.

After Atos (since March 2008 replaced by the Hyundai i10 ) from 2002 to 2004 was no longer available, led him Hyundai after this two-year absence in a slightly revised form again on the European market, as there were many prospects who one after even smaller model than the Getz inquired.

End of 2008, Hyundai presented the production version of the Hyundai i20 Getz successor.

Technology

Hyundai Getz exploited in the modular principle, by many technical components ( including models of sister brand Kia Motors ) used by several Group series. To find, for example, all engines either in the Hyundai Atos/i10 ( 1.1 l petrol engine ), the Hyundai Accent (1.4 -liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel ) or the Hyundai i30 (1, 6 -liter gasoline engine ) again.

Security

The Hyundai Getz was fitted as standard from market launch off across Europe with four airbags ( two front airbags and two combined Seiten-/Kopfairbags for driver and passenger) and ABS. After a facelift ESP is also available at extra cost.

In the Euro NCAP crash test of the Hyundai Getz received in occupant protection 25 points and therefore four out of five stars. This puts it on par with competitors such as the Peugeot 206 or the Opel Corsa C. An equally significant result was achieved by the small car in child protection, which was evaluated with 37 points and four out of five stars.

Far worse it looks, however, in the pedestrian protection, which leaves you with five points and one of four stars clearly room for improvement. The test was carried out in 2004. However, since in the course of facelifts neither the body structure are other safety-related parts have been changed in the fall of 2005, this result can also be applied to this model.
