Hyundai Scoupe (1989-1993)

The Hyundai Scoupe is a front driven sports coupe the Hyundai Motor Company, which was based on the Hyundai Pony X2 and was produced by the fall of 1989 until mid-1996.

Model history

After the S- Coupe came in early 1990 on the market in Asia, it was exported from the summer of 1991 to Germany.

Initially, it had a four-cylinder in-line engine with 1468 cc and 62 kW ( 84 hp) at 5,500 min-1 and a maximum torque of 120 Nm at 4,000 min -1. The S Coupe cost to its introduction relatively cheap 23,690 DM and was quite lavish. Among other things, was also a power steering and a Glas-Schiebe-/Hebedach available. The car was equipped with a 5 -speed manual transmission, but at an additional cost with a 4 -speed automatic transmission available.

Facelift

In spring 1993 there was a facelift, the S- Coupe brought a more modern and more rounded body. Only by this revision of the breakthrough in the German market.

His engine was completely revised. The house design now had three valves per cylinder and the engine capacity was increased to 1,495 cc. The engine was now powered by 65 kW (88 hp) at 5,600 min -1 and had a maximum torque of 127 Nm at 4,000 min -1. Parallel to this was by this engine also a turbo version with 85 kW ( 115 hp) at 5,500 min-1 and a maximum torque of 171 Nm at 4,300 min-1 available, which cost DM 1,700 charge.

Rear view

In June 1996, the production of S- Coupé was discontinued. His successor was introduced in September 1996, which carries only the name Hyundai Coupe.
