IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics

The IAAF World Indoor Championships ( official name IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics ) are competitions that are conducted by the Athletics IAAF in halls. They found for the first time in 1985 in Paris, at that time, however, still under the name World Indoor Games. Since 1987 they are officially referred to as the World Championships. 2004, the discharge rhythm was changed so as not to compete with the previously held in the same year World Athletics Championships outdoors.

Competitions

The running competitions on 200 - meter lanes with six individual tracks instead. Due to the limited space no throwing events are carried out with the exception of the ball bumping.

Over the years, several changes have occurred in the Competition Program: The 4-by- 400 - meter relay was introduced for both men and women in 1991. This year also saw the triple jump women was admitted to the program provisionally, where final since 1993.

The competitions in walking found the last time in 1993 instead; at that time the only time was held a 1600 meter relay. The Pole Vault Women was first held in 1997, two years before the premiere outdoors.

At the World Championships in 2004 for the last time the 200- meter race on the program. The reason for this is that the outcome of the race due to the tight corners was too predictable. Athletes who had to walk on the narrow inner tracks, usually had no chance to win the race.
