Inquisivi Municipality

The municipality Inquisivi is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Inquisivi is one of six Municipalities of the province Inquisivi and lies in the eastern part of the province. It is bordered to the west by the municipality of Cajuata, to the municipality Licoma Pampa, to the municipality and the municipality Quime Ichoca, to the south by the municipality of Colquiri, on the east by the department of Cochabamba, and in the north by the province of Sud Yungas.

The municipality has 165 localities ( Localidades ), the administrative seat of the municipality and most populous town is Inquisivi with 581 inhabitants in the central part of the county. (2001)

Geography

The municipality Inquisivi is on an average height of 2800 m on the eastern slopes of the Cordillera Quimsa Cruz, between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Amazon lowlands to the east. The region has a pronounced diurnal climate in which the daily temperature fluctuations are stronger than the seasonal variation. The mean average temperature of the region is 10.5 ° C (see climate chart Quime ), the average monthly temperatures range from 7 ° C in June / July and about 13 ° C in November / December. The annual rainfall is about 600 mm, May-August there is a dry season with monthly rainfall less than 15 mm, in the months of January and February fall in the long-term average 120-130 mm of rain.

The population of the municipality Inquisivi has increased by about 15 percent over the past two decades:

The municipality had at the last census in 2001 a population density of 5.0 inhabitants / km ². The life expectancy of newborns in 2001 was 58.1 years, the infant mortality rate is 10.9 per cent ( 1992) declined to 8.2 percent in 2001.

The literacy rate for those over 15 years is 78.7 percent, and 89.2 percent, although in men and 67.1 percent for women ( 2001).

71.9 percent of the population speak Spanish, 86.9 percent speak Aymara, Quechua and 7.6 percent. (2001)

91.5 percent of the population have no access to electricity, 69.3 percent have no sanitary facilities ( 2001).

65.1 percent of the total 4,091 households owned a radio, a television 4.8 percent, 8.9 percent, a bicycle, a motorcycle 2.0 percent, 0.9 percent, a car, a refrigerator 1.0 percent and 0.1 percent a telephone. (2001)
