Isernia

Isernia is the capital of the Italian province of Isernia in Molise.

Located on the edge of Abruzzo town has 22,005 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) and is the seat of a bishop. Economically, the production of craft lace and the food and building materials industry is significant.

The neighboring municipalities are Carpinone, Forlì del Sannio, Fornelli, Longano, Macchia d' Isernia, Miranda, Pesche, Pettoranello del Molise, Roccasicura and Sant'Agapito.

The ancient city at the same place was called Aesernia.
