Jackie Joyner-Kersee

Jackie Joyner - Kersee ( born March 3, 1962 in East St. Louis, Illinois) is a former American long jumper and heptathlete. She is three -time Olympic gold medalist and four -time World Champion.

Career

Joyner - Kersee won at the Olympic Games a total of 6 medals: 1988 gold in the heptathlon and long jump, heptathlon gold in 1992, added a silver medal in the heptathlon in 1984 and two bronze medals in the long jump (1992 and 1996). She was also a total of four times world champion, twice each in the heptathlon (1987 and 1993) and long jump (1987 and 1991).
