The municipality is located in the Danube- forest in the Bavarian Forest.

History
The place was one of the so-called seven künischen villages, which included Wollaberg, Heindl shock, Rosenberg, Aßberg, reason and Hintereben. They were probably founded in the mid 15th century by the prince-bishops of Passau, was sold in 1487 to re- purchase to the Upper Austrian rule Rannariedl and repurchased only in 1765 by the Bishopric of Passau. With the Bishopric of Passau the villages came after three years to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, in 1806 Bavaria.
Incorporations
In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, the formerly independent municipality Heindl shock was forcibly incorporated on 1 April 1971. On January 1, 1978, against the added Greet the population Hintereben.
Religions
Since 1980 is in Jandelsbrunn a temple of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON ), from which the first missionary of the Krishna movement was led in Europe.

Mayor
First Mayor since 1996 Johann Wegerbauer ( CSU / FWJ ), which was re-elected at the municipal election in 2008 on the first ballot with 75.5 % of the valid votes.
Church
In Jandelsbrunn since 1894 there was a chapel, which was canceled in 1966. Elsewhere, built 1961-1963 Architect Beckers from Regensburg a modern central building, today's Catholic Parish Church of the Immaculate Conception. Jandelsbrunn, 1958 Kooperatur and since 1965 Pfarrkuratie the parish Wollaberg, since 1968 the parish.

Traffic
Jandelsbrunn is located on State Road 2131 Forest Churches by Neureichenau, which will be expanded at the time (April 2007). In the wake of this controversial building project Jandelsbrunn gets to the end of 2007 a bypass. About the new line to reach the future faster 35 km away Passau and the Federal Highway 3 After forest churches is 7 km to 18 km and to Freyung border into Austria 11 km.
From 1910 to 1963 there was a passenger station on the railway Forest Church Haidmuehle. By 1994, the railway station for freight transport was still used. 2001, the track was dismantled and rebuilt in the Adalbert -Stifter- bike trail.
Established businesses
In Jandelsbrunn is since 1970 the caravan factory and the headquarters of Knaus Tabbert, until 2002 Knaus GmbH. The private brewery long to brew the beer Jandelsbrunner.
