Geography

Geographical Location

The municipality is located in the Danube- forest in the southern Bavarian forest, more precisely in Dreiburgenland. Thurmansbang is approximately 30 km north of Passau, 18 km south-west of Grafenau, 22 km north-east of Vilshofen on the Danube and 15 km from the motorway 3 (exit Garham ). There are very few connections with public transport.

History

Dormannesbanc appears first documented in 1180 as a Henry de Dormannesbanc appeared as a witness at Alder creek monastery. 1252 was the bailiwick of the Ortenburgers over to the Wittelsbach family. In the land register of Lower Bavaria from the beginning of the 14th century Turinspach is mentioned. It was the seat of ducal judge. 1386 is named in a writ of winemakers Andre bailiff to Turmanspankch. Even in the middle of the 19th century was the spelling of the village Thurmansbank.

1429 the Expositur and already in 1476 the parish Thurmansbang was built. Relevant portion thereby had the Lords of Puchberg. Hartlieb of Puchberg sold around 1456 a yard and a good at Eging, and his daughter Elizabeth, owned a mansion Fürstenstein, endowed the new parish with a forest of about 100 Tagwerken.

Thurmansbang belonged to Rentamt Landshut and the district court Vilshofen of the Electorate of Bavaria. In the Thirty Years' War, the church was destroyed and renewed in 1683. 1763 was followed by another renovation and enlargement of the parish church of St. Mark. 1855 was one of the parish 1910 souls. 1904, the church was enlarged by ten meters to the west, thereby increasing the tower by one floor.

Culture and sights

The Baroque parish church of St. Mark from the year 1763 was extended in 1904. The tower dates from the Middle Ages, it was in 1910 increased by one floor. Regular events

Since 1988 is the Elefantentreffen, the world's oldest and largest winter meeting for motorcyclists annually with more than 5,000 visitors from all over Europe on the last weekend of January in Loh at Solla in the community Thurmansbang instead.
