Geography
Geographical Location
The market is located in the Donau-Wald Bavarian Forest between the valleys of the Ilz and Ohe. Perlesreut located respectively 12 km away from Grafenau Freyung removed, the B 85 is 10 km, up to A3 (exit Aicha vorm Wald ) 25 km, 16 km of forest churches, and Passau ( about Fuersteneck ) 30 km to Tittling.

History
The former market of high pin Passau ( the degree of self- rights enjoyed ) was secularized in 1803 with the largest part of the Bishopric of Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany region in favor and fell until 1805 in Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.
Incorporations
On January 1, 1971, until then independent municipality Waldenreut was incorporated. On January 1, 1972, added low Perlesreut. In 1978, parts of the territory of the dissolved parish hall followed in the forest on 1 January and the community Kumreut on 1 May 1978.
Population Development
Schmalzlerfest
Based on the history of snuff and the former economic importance for the market is the organized every 3rd weekend in July in Perlesreut " Schmalzlerfest ". The highlight of this festival is the Sunday Schnupferwettbewerb, even country already known through radio and television reports. Anyone can participate, whether already snuff consumer or newbie, even holidaymakers make it not a bad figure. The Schmalzlerfest is surrounded by other attractions, such as a large horse market and helicopter flights.

The market council has been working for the municipal election on 2 March 2008 as follows:

- Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CSU ): 7 seats ( 48.7 % of the vote )
Mayor
First mayor is Manfred Eibl ( CFWU ), who was elected at the municipal election in 2008 unopposed with 92.62 % of the valid votes.
Finances
In 2009, the municipal tax revenue amounted to € 1,183,000, of which € 301,000 trade tax revenue ( net).

Economy and infrastructure
Economy
It was in 2009 according to official statistics in the manufacturing sector and 198 in the area of trade and transport 89 persons work at the workplace. In other areas, were employed to social security at the workplace 115 people.
