Jarovnice

Jarovnice ( until 1927 slovak also " Jaronivce "; Jarownitz German, Hungarian Jernye ) is a municipality in the north-eastern Slovakia. It is located in Šarišská Highlands ( Saddle Roscher Bergland ) on the river Mala Svinka, 6 km from Sabinov and 16 km from Prešov away.

The first written mention was made in the year 1262. 1998 the village as well as the neighboring communities Uzovské Pekľany and Renčišov was flooded by a millennium flood, while there were 50 victims. Today, the village has nearly 5,000 inhabitants, of which around 80 % are Roma.

To the municipality next to the main town also includes the 1970 is my finished Močidľany village.
