Jason Williams (ice hockey)

Jason Williams ( born August 11, 1980 in London, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player in the position of right winger, who is since May 2012 at the HC Ambri -Piotta in the National League A under contract.

Career

Jason Williams began his career in 1996 in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League with the Peterborough Petes. In the first two years he stood still not particularly apparent. Only in the 1998/99 season he was able to draw attention to himself and scored a total of 74 points. In the following season, he was only a point worse and won the plus / minus rating, but was not drafted, which is why it took the Detroit Red Wings in September 2000 as a free agent contract.

Until 2003, he played primarily with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League unterklassigen and only came for the Red Wings used when a player is injured. After all, he played 25 games of the regular season and nine games in the playoffs of the 2001/02 season, when the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup.

In the 2003 /04 season he was used more often, but was slowed by some injuries. During the lockout in the NHL season 2004/ 05 and the related cancellation of the NHL season Williams played in the Finnish SM- liiga for porin Ässät. After the lockout he played almost the entire 2005/06 season for the Red Wings and was missing only two games because of a slight injury and scored 58 points, a personal best.

In the summer he signed with the Red Wings a new contract for two years. In November 2006, Jason Williams by Raffi Torres vice checked out by the Edmonton Oilers and fell with his head on the ice. Williams had to be transported with a carrying out of the ice rink and was missing for three games because of a facial injury and a severe concussion. After his contract expired, he was first out of contract before Williams was invited in December 2010 to a try-out at the Connecticut Whale in the AHL. In February 2011, he has been endowed by the Dallas Stars with a contract until the end of the season. After the expiry of his contract with the stars of the striker was committed on 26 July 2011 by the Pittsburgh Penguins with a Zweiwegvertrag. 29 May 2012 it was announced that he was bound by the HC Ambri -Piotta.
