Jędrynie

Jędrynie ( German: Jendrin ) is a town in Poland in Upper Silesia in the community Strzelce ( United Strehlitz ) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship.

Geography

Geographical Location

Jędrynie located 8 kilometers north of the municipal center and the county town of Strzelce and 28 kilometers southeast of the voivodship Opole.

Neighboring village of Jędrynie is in the south Rozmierka ( Rosmierka ).

History

The town was first mentioned in 1528 as " Gendrynia ". 1936, the town was renamed in large colony Maßdorf. By 1945, the place was in the district of Great Strehlitz and belonged to the village of Great Maßdorf.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Jędrynie and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. From 1983 to 1984, a chapel was built. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Strzelecki.

In Jędrynie there is the unique tradition in cornfields heart to cut with a cross.
