Jordi Gómez García- Penche ( born May 24, 1985 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish football player. He plays in central midfield for Wigan Athletic.

Career

The attacker played since his youth at FC Barcelona. In the reserve team of the Catalans it was 59 times on the court. In 2007 he moved to city rivals Espanyol. He first played there in the B team of the club. His professional debut was 23 March 2008 against Real Murcia.

On 6 June 2008, he was loaned to Swansea City. Together with his team-mate Albert Serrán Polo, he joined the Football League Championship. Gomez scored the winning goal in September in the first South Wales derby against Cardiff City for seven years. He finished the season 2008/2009 with a total of 12 goals in the league. During his loan period in Wales, he was a regular player of the team.

He returned to Espanyol, but was immediately sold to Wigan Athletic. On 19 June 2009 he signed a three -year contract. The fee was £ 1.7 million. Roberto Martínez, coaches at Wigan, previously coached him at Swansea. His first game in the Premier League was against Aston Villa on August 15, 2010.
