Joseph Anthony Galante

Joseph Anthony Galante ( born July 2, 1938 in Philadelphia ) is retired bishop of Camden.

Life

The archbishop of Philadelphia, John Joseph Krol, ordained him a priest on 16 May 1964 of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop on 13 October 1992 in San Antonio and Titular Bishop of Equilium. The Archbishop of San Antonio, Patrick Fernández Flores, gave him on 11 December of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Francis Bible Schulte, Archbishop of New Orleans, and Francis Xavier DiLorenzo, Auxiliary Bishop of Scranton.

On April 5, 1994, he was appointed Bishop of Beaumont and introduced into the office on 9 May of the same year. On 23 November 1999 he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Dallas and introduced into the office on January 14 of next year.

On 23 March 2004 he was appointed Bishop of Camden and introduced into the office on 30 April of the same year. On January 8, 2013 Benedict XVI accepted. its age-related resignation.
