Jukka Nevalainen

Jukka " Julius " Nevalainen (born 21 April 1978 Kitee, Finland) is the drummer for the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish and the Finnish progressive metal band Sethian.

Biography

By Jukka Nevalainen began playing drums at the age of 11 years, but was able to practice only rarely, as he had no rehearsal room. His first band was called "The Highway", with 15-16 years, he joined the first "real" band at that rehearsed several times a week. After leaving this, he teamed up with Emppu Vuorinen to do with him music together. Together with him Nevalainen had a solid practice room, in which she played music almost every day together. At the beginning of this music was mostly Finnish rock, but they quickly went over to a harder style.

At the age of 17 years Jukka Nevalainen Emppu Vuorinen of was invited to a music project called Nightwish to join, had started the Vuorinen previously together with Tuomas Holopainen and Tarja Turunen. They wanted to try out how their music would sound along with the drums. The band Nightwish was founded, with whom he first album Angels Fall First recorded in 1997.

His musical side project, the band Sethian, currently (2010) rests almost entirely because the members are busy with their main bands.

As musical idols called Nevalainen Mike Portnoy, the drummer for the American progressive metal band Dream Theater and Jörg Michael, the drummer of the Finnish power metal band Stratovarius.

Private life

Jukka Nevalainen lives with his wife Satu Nevalainen and his three children ( two girls, one boy ) in Joensuu, Finland. He is a vegetarian.
