Kazimieras Antanavičius (economist)

Casimir Antanavicius ( born November 25, 1937 in Balsėnai at Veivirzenai, Rajongemeinde Klaipėda, † April 16, 1998 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian economist and politician.

Life

He learned in middle schools and Tauragė Šilalė. After graduation with honors in 1955 in Švėkšna ( Rajongemeinde Šilutė ), he studied civil engineering at Kauno politechnikos institutas (KPI). Because of the anti-Soviet activity from 1952 to 1954, he was arrested in 1959 and removed from the Komsomol and the Institute. In 1960 he graduated from the external study on the KPI. From 1964 to 1965, he was aspirant on the KPI. From 1967 to 1988 he taught at Vilniaus inžinerinis statybos institutas. In 1968 he received his doctorate in engineering in 1977 and his habilitation in economics. From 1982 he was a professor. From 1989 to 1990 he was teaching load in the Supreme Council of the Soviet Union from 1990 to 1996 Member of the Seimas, Chairman of the Economic Committee. From 1997 to 1998 he taught at the Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas in Kaunas.

From 1988 he was a member of Lietuvos socialdemokratų partija.

His grave is in the cemetery Antakalnis.
