Kindwiller

Kindwiller ( German child hamlet ) is a linear village and a commune in the Bas -Rhin in the Alsace region. Kindwiller belongs to the canton Niederbronn- les- Bains and has 594 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). Kindwiller is a member of the Communauté de communes du Val de Moder.

Geography

The village is located about 15 kilometers west of Haguenau in the Upper Rhine Plain.

History

Was first documented Kindwiller as Kintwilre in 1317 as a carrier of the same family. At that time, the area belonged to the bailiff of Haguenau. Later, the High German name child hamlet began to emerge.

In 1561 the municipality Kindwiller was Catholic again after 1545 was become Protestant because of the war. Until then, the pastor of the parish Uhrwiller managed.

Kindwiller was also a kingdom village.

Infrastructure

On the rue Principale, it houses the local administration and the majority of the houses. Out of town the municipal area is used for agriculture in particular.

Attractions

  • The church was rebuilt after a German bombing raid again. Only the choir of the church is still in its original.
