Klingenberg, Saxony

Klingenberg is a municipality in the district of Saxon Saxon Switzerland & Eastern Ore Mountains. It was created on 31 December 2012 from the merger of the municipalities Höckendorf and Pretzschendorf with its districts.

Geography

The community is located about 20 kilometers southwest of the city of Dresden and 10 kilometers west of the county seat Dippoldiswalde between the Tharandter forest and the Eastern Ore Mountains. In the center of the municipality is the Klingenberg dam, which is fed by the savages Weißeritz.

History

History of the villages

The oldest mention of a place in the region date back to the year 1235, when a Hoico de Hoikendorph is mentioned as the owner of the manor of the present-day village Höckendorf. Merger

The administrative community with Hartmannsdorf -Reichenau was taken over by the new community.

The mayor and council

The council Klingenberg's is the current legislature of 34 members, including 16 from the former Höckendorfer and 18 from the former Pretzschendorf villages council.
