King Village (Hungarian: Királyfalva ) is a municipality with 724 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the south Burgenland in the district Jenner village in Austria.

Geography

King Village is the only place in the community and is divided into Koenigsdorf place and queens village mountain.

History

Barrow- in Kögelwald and excavations in the years 1922/25 discovered found objects ( urns, pots, rings and a 12 cm high statuette of Jupiter ) suggesting an early settlement of this area.

The foundation document for the Güssinger Benedictine from the 1157 refers to the inhabitants of the Lafnitz valley as " Theotonici " ( German ), and a document of King Andrew III. from 1291, called the border area in Styria "terra hospitum ", which means " the land of the guests". These "guests " were German. King village was under the power of the counts of Güssing and 1327 was a royal estate. Was passed in the award document of King Sigismund for Peter Cheh de Leva, with the same Güssinger the province in 1428, the place name of King Village ( Kyralfalwa ) was first mentioned in 1428. Culture and sights

The parish church of St. Stephen was built in 1757-59 in place of a wooden church. Count Ludwig Batthyány donated the building site and the cemetery space. In 1757, the cemetery at the church was built.

In 1860, under the teacher Franz Scherzer, who worked 60 years in King village, built Catholic schoolhouse. 1870 a second class was built. The Catholic children from Elten village attended the elementary school in King village. The Protestant children of King village went into Elten village in the elementary school. 1867 the first Protestant teachers ( Josef Mattes, a native Königendorfer ) was chosen. He taught the children in the house No. 72 in the years 1869/70, the evangelical school house was built. In 1943, the house No. 142 was purchased in the mountains of the municipality from the evangelical pastor Augustin. The house was demolished. In its place, a school house should be built for the children Bergler. The plans for this were already present.
