Krasnoilsk

Krasnojilsk (Ukrainian Красноїльськ; romanian Crasnei Ilschi also Crasnei; German Krasna Ilski, Russian Красноильск ) is an urban-type settlement in the Ukrainian Chernivtsi Oblast. It lies in a valley south of the city Storoschynez, 8 kilometers north of the border with Romania, about 39 km south-west of Czernowitz in the northern Bukovina.

History

The settlement was mentioned in the first half of the 15th century for the first time in writing. In the document dated July 15, 1431 was half of the estate, located on the left side of the Seret River, assigned to the boyars Stan Cupcici that on the right side of the river to the monastery Putna.

1652 was the possession by the familial connection with the Chancellor of Moldova Gavrilas Mateiaş to the family of boyars Ursachi. The Großsulger Dumitraşcu Ursachi sold his shares on 1 May 1696 the Alexander de Ilschi ( Jelsky ). The village belonged until January 1775 the Principality of Moldavia.

After 1774, the Bukovina towards the end of the Russo- Ottoman War ( 1768-1774 ) had been occupied by neutral Austria, this was confirmed in 1775 by the Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca, officially known as much for Austria " intermediary services " between the warring parties. This Krasna Ilski was a part of Austria first in the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, 1849 in the newly formed Duchy of crown land Bukovina.

On March 15, 1783 confirmed by the Austrian Commission for the division of property in Bukovina under the direction of Johann Anton Thaddeus Peithner of Lichtenfels that half of the village of Alexander de Ilski and his brother Miron Gaffenko belonged, the other the Putna Monastery.

From 1786 to German farming families from Bohemia were in place to the ground, which later became the colony Althütte (Romanian Huta Veche; Ukrainian Стара Красношора ) should be based. There was 1793, the first glassworks in Bukovina, and four more were built before 1821.
