Krausnick-Groß Wasserburg

Nick Kraus - Groß Wasserburg is a municipality in the district of Dahme -Spreewald in Brandenburg. It belongs to the sub- office Spreewald.

The municipality was created on 31 December 2001, from the voluntary merger of the previously independent municipalities Nick Kraus ( Lower Kšušwica ) and Groß Wasserburg ( Lower Wódowy Grod ).

Geography

In the midst of very wooded community area of Krausnick - Groß Wasserburg the Krausnicker mountains rise (also called mountain Spreewald ), with a maximum of 144 m above sea level. NN ( Wehlaberg ) about 100 meters above the east subsequent sub- Spreewald. In the north of the church ( in Groß Wasserburg ) branches off the edge channel of the River Spree ( Wasserburg Spree) and leads in Baruth glacial valley to Köthener lake, which is connected via the Dahme- Umflutkanal with the River Dahme. The municipality is situated approximately 60 km south-east of Berlin.

History

District Krausnick

The first mention Nick Kraus was the occasion of the transfer of ownership of the village to the monastery Nienburg an der Saale in 1004 by King Henry II

The name Nick Kraus is due to the Sorbian ksuswica = wild pear tree.

The district of Groß Wasserburg

The first mention of the place in 1554 is related to the investiture of Wasserburg by Margrave John of Brandenburg. Groß Wasserburg was then a Vorwerk by Nick Kraus. 1728 the territory of the present municipality was sold to Frederick William I, who used it as a royal hunting ground.

The Council of the Municipality Council currently consists of two women and six men of the Council:

Economy and infrastructure

The economic profile of the community is agriculture, forestry and tourism determined ( riding, boat rental, nearby swimming pool " Tropical Islands ").

Transport links

About ten kilometers southwest of the municipality runs the federal motorway 13 (Berlin- Dresden, exits Freiwalde and Staakow ). The nearest train stations are located in Schoenwald and Briesen-Brand on the railway line Berlin- Cottbus.

Structures

In the list is the monument built in 1728 Krausnicker truss Cross church and the village hall, the former village school in Nick Kraus. The ground monuments are listed in the List of archaeological monuments in Krausnick - Groß Wasserburg.

Personalities

The cartoonist Reiner Schwalme ( * 1937 ) lives in Groß Wasserburg.

Others

About six kilometers west of the center of Nick Kraus, on the municipal boundary to Half is the water park Tropical Islands. It originated in the as -built production facility for cargo lifter, the world's largest self-supporting hall.
