La Rogivue

Rogivue is a village and formerly independent municipality in the district of Oron canton of Vaud in Switzerland. On 1 January 2003 Rogivue was incorporated into maracones.

Geography

Rogivue is located at 838 m above sea level. M., 4 km north of Chatel -Saint -Denis ( straight line ). The small village extends on a hill north of the Talniederung Broye. Geographically located in the pre-alpine Rogivue Molassehügelland the eastern rim of the Vaud Mittelland. The former municipality area was around 1.0 km ². The area, which is surrounded on three sides by the Canton of Fribourg, extends from the winding course of the Broye northward over the flat Talniederung and the hill of La Rogivue up in the swamp Les Mosses. This moorland was acquired by the canton of Vaud in 1973 and declared a nature reserve.

Population

With 86 inhabitants ( end of 2000 ) Rogivue was before the merger with maracones of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Vaud. Especially in recent years, a slight increase in population was registered ( in 1997 only 65 inhabitants).

Economy

Rogivue still lives mainly from agriculture, especially from agriculture and animal husbandry. In the area of Les Mosses was dismantled in the 18th century and especially during the two world wars peat.

Traffic

The village is located on a link road from Palézieux after Semsales. By Postbus course, which runs from Oron- la- Ville Semsales, Rogivue is connected to the public transport network.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1278 under the name Rubea aqua ( red water ). In the Middle Ages, when Rogivue together with the adjacent La Rougève formed a community, a noble family is mentioned, which bore the name of the village. By 1300, the village came to rule Bossonnens.

Only after the Reformation it came to the separation of the church. The Reformed congregation part came under the name of La Rogivue to the Bernese bailiff, Oron, while the Catholic party (La Rougève ) belonged to the Canton of Fribourg. After the collapse of the ancien régime Rogivue belonged from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic to the canton of Geneva, who came up then with the enactment of the Act of Mediation in the canton of Vaud. 1798 was assigned to the District Oron. On 1 January 2003, Rogivue joined in frame to a church merger of the neighboring community maracones. The also formerly independent village was incorporated into La Rougève Semsales 1968.
