Languages of Ivory Coast
The indigenous languages of the Ivory Coast are within the Niger -Congo language family to two language groups: the Volta - Congo languages in the east and south, and the Mande languages in the Northwest.
Within the Volta - Congo languages , the four main groups Gur ( Voltaic ) in the Northeast, in the southwest Kru, Kwa in the southeast and Senufo in the north are predominant.
However, the French language is the only official language of the Ivory Coast, although there are 70 indigenous languages in the country. The Mande language Diula, as well as the Bambara, the native languages , which are spoken most often. Among the other idioms are of the Kru languages, the Neyo, the Bété that Dida, the Nyabwa, the WE and the most common Krahn; of the Kwa languages are the Abé, the Abouré, the Abron, the Adjoukrou and Avikam.
