Lasse Kukkonen

Lasse Kukkonen Juhani ( born September 18, 1981 in Oulu) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since August 2013 in Oulu Kärpät in the SM- liiga under contract.

Career

Lasse Kukkonen began his career in the 2000/ 01 season with the hockey club Kärpät in the Finnish SM- liiga. There he played three seasons. He was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2003 in the fifth round as 151 of the Chicago Blackhawks and then moved on to the NHL, but played mainly for the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL. Already in the following season, he returned to Kärpät, where he played until 2006 and 2005 Finnish Champion.

After an outstanding 2005/06 season in Finland, the Chicago Blackhawks took him again to North America. He finally was able to work out a place in the NHL squad. However, he was transferred in the course of the 2006 /07 together with a third-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2007 for Kyle Calder to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Since 2009 he plays in the Kontinental Hockey League, first for the HK Avangard Omsk and from 2010 for the Metallurg Magnitogorsk. Since July 2012, he is the Rögle BK of the Elitserien under contract.

At the Olympic Games in 2014 he won the bronze medal with the Finnish national team.
