Laviron

Laviron is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Laviron is located on 727 m above sea level, 4 km north of Pierre Fontaine- les- Varans and about 35 km southwest of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the Jura, on the northern edge of the broad plateaux of Pierre Fontaine, at the foot of the Peu de Laviron.

The area of ​​19.92 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The main part of the territory occupied by the weakly in relief plateau by Pierre Fontaine, which is on average 700 m. It is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, but also shows smaller forest areas and marshy areas. The plateau has no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. The northern boundary of this vast plateau forms a ridge which leads on to the much deeper pool of Sancey. From west to east these are the Mont Ormont (840 m), the Peu de Laviron ( 859 m the highest elevation of Laviron ) and the height of Le Saucet ( 782 m).

To Laviron addition to the actual site includes various hamlets and numerous individual farms, including:

  • Le Petit- Laviron (730 m) at the Südostfuß the Peu de Laviron
  • La Joux ( 692 m) at the northern edge of the plateau by Pierre Fontaine
  • Sous la Faye (705 m) at the northern edge of the plateau by Pierre Fontaine

Neighboring communities of Laviron are Sancey -le- Grand in the north, Surmont and Belleherbe in the east, Pierre Fontaine- les- Varans in the south and Landresse in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Laviron belonged to the rule Belvoir. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Since 1998 Laviron is a member of the 44- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Pierre Fontaine - Vercel.

On 1 January 2009 there was a change in the membership of the district municipality. So far, belonging to the district Besançon, all municipalities in the canton came to the district Pontarlier.

Attractions

The Church of Sainte- Trinité is originally from the 12th century. Over time, numerous changes and renovations have been made, so that today's buildings dating back mainly to the 18th century. The bell tower was built in 1750-1757. In the village are farmhouses dating from the 18th and 19th centuries have been preserved in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté.

Population

With 356 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Laviron one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 644 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1990s.

Economy and infrastructure

Laviron was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture ( crops and livestock ) embossed village. In addition, there are now several companies of local small enterprises, mainly in the field of wood processing. Many workers are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Sancey -le- Grand to Pierre Fontaine- les- Varans. Further road links exist with Landresse, Belleherbe and Chamesey.
