Landresse

Landresse is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Landresse is located on 570 m above sea level, 13 km south-east of Baume- les -Dames and about 34 km east of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in a hollow south of the plateau of Chasalan.

The area of ​​14.43 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area occupied by the basin of Landresse, in around 1 kilometer wide valley, which opens west to the basin of Orsans. Is flanked this trough to the north of the plateau of Chasalan ( to 660 m ) to the south from the plateau of Villers. To the east, the land rises gradually, culminating in the ridge south of the Bois du Fahy. Here the highest elevation of Landresse is achieved with 856 m. With a narrow tip, the municipality's area extends to the southeast on the high plateau of Pierre Fontaine ( average 700 m) and includes a small bog.

Neighboring communities of Landresse are Lanans and Ouvans in the north, Sancey -le- Grand and Laviron in the east, Germéfontaine, Villers- la -Combe and Vellerot -lès -Vercel in the south and Courtetain -et- Salans in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Landresse belonged to the rule Passavant, which was owned by the Lords of Montbéliard since the 14th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Since 1998 Landresse is a member of the 44- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Pierre Fontaine - Vercel.

On 1 January 2009 there was a change in the membership of the district municipality. So far, belonging to the district Besançon, all municipalities in the canton came to the district Pontarlier.

Attractions

The village church of Landresse was built in the early 17th century. A chapel from the 16th century served as a grave place of the Lords of Leugney. From 1867 comes the municipality, the city is also home to a school.

Population

With 223 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) is Landresse to the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1896 396 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Landresse was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Many workers are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Vercel - Villedieu -le- Camp to Vellevans. Further road links exist with Orsans and Pierre Fontaine- les- Varans.
