Lanans

Lanans is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Lanans is located on 511 m, 9 km south-east of Baume- les -Dames and about 33 km east-northeast of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the Jura, on the plateau between the valley of Cusancin and the ridges of Grand Bois.

The area of ​​10:05 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The main part of the territory occupied by the plateau which extends between the valley of Cusancin and the ridges of Grand Bois, is on average 500 meters and is slightly wavy. It consists predominantly of arable and meadow land, but also shows some of larger forest areas. The plateau has no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. At the village a dry valley, the topographical part of the catchment area of ​​the Cusancin begins. Towards the south, the land rises gradually and reaches to the terrace of the Bois Brûlé (600 m). The southern boundary runs along the wooded ridge that stretches to the Grand Rocher from Grand Bois eastward. Here the highest elevation of Lanans is achieved with 680 m.

Neighboring communities of Lanans are Montivernage and Cusance in the north, Servin in the east, and Ouvans Courtetain -et- Salans in the south and Vaudrivillers in the West.

History

Through the area of Lanans led to Roman times an important route that established the connection between Vesontio (Besançon ) and the Upper Rhine. In the Middle Ages Lanans belonged to the rule Clerval, which came under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard in the 14th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

The seat of power, who originally came from the 14th century, was restored in the 17th century and remodeled.

Population

With 133 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Lanans is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1906 101 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1990s.

Economy and infrastructure

Lanans was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises, including a company of the transport industry. Many workers are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Besançon Sancey- le -Grand. Further road links exist with Ouvans, Cusance and Montivernage.
