Bretigney -Notre -Dame is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Bretigney -Notre -Dame is located on 397 m, 6 km southwest of Baume- les -Dames, approximately 22 km east-northeast of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the Jura, on the so-called first plateau, a broad basin at the southern foot of the Jura - edge chain ( Cote ).

The area of ​​5.62 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The main part of the area is occupied by the wide first Jura plateau, which is on average 390 m. It forms a wide, partially karstified basin. In the area of Bretigney the plateau is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. To the south of the municipality of soil ranges in the forest area of ​​the Forêt de l' Aiguillon, and the slightly deepened in the little valley of the plateau Audeux forms the southern boundary.

To the north, the municipality's area extends to the long and wooded ridges of the Jura - edge chain ( Cote ). History

The place name appears Bretigney in 1147 for the first time in the documents. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the rule Passavant. End of the 15th century, it came to the family Orsans and 1530 to the Governor of Besançon. Antoine -François d' Gauthiot Ancier decreed that the rule of Bretigney passed after his death to the Jesuit College of Besançon, which they then held until the French Revolution. Together with the Franche -Comté Bretigney came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. For ease of differentiation compared to the also located in the department of Doubs Bretigney the community name was officially changed in 1923 Bretigney -Notre -Dame.

With 110 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Bretigney -Notre -Dame is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs.
