Vaudrivillers

Vaudrivillers is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Vaudrivillers is located on 514 m, 9 km south of Baume- les -Dames and about 28 km east of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in a slight hollow position on the plateau at the northern foot of the ridge of Grand Bois.

The area of ​​3.65 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The main part of the territory occupied by the plateau which extends between the valley of Cusancin and the Grand Bois, is on average 500 meters and is slightly wavy. It is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, but also shows some forest areas. The plateau has no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. The trough of Vaudrivillers runs north out in a dry valley, the topographical part of the catchment area of ​​the Cusancin. To the south, the municipality's area extends over a relatively steep wooded slope to the level of Grand Bois, at 660 meters the highest point of Vaudrivillers is achieved.

Neighboring communities of Vaudrivillers are Montivernage in the north, Lanans in the east, Courtetain -et- Salans in the south and Passavant in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Vaudrivillers belonged to the rule Cusance. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

The village church of Vaudrivillers dates from the late 18th century.

Population

With 81 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Vaudrivillers is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1891, 96 people were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Vaudrivillers was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village.
