Pont-les-Moulins

Pont- les -Moulins is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Pont- les -Moulins is located at 281 m, 3 km southeast of Baume- les -Dames and about 27 km east-northeast of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the Jura, in a valley widening of Cusancin at the mouth of the creek Sesserant, at the southern foot of the Jura - edge chain ( Cote ).

The area of ​​4.95 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area occupied by the Talniederung of Cusancin, which is a maximum of one kilometer wide. The river flows here in tortuous course to the north and take the left side of Bach Sesserant on. The valley is flanked by steep slopes on either side, surmounted at different locations of Kalkfelswänden.

To the east the area extends to the ridge of the Bois du Saussoi, which forms the westernmost foothills of the Lomont. In the south has Pont- les -Moulins share of the so-called first Jura plateau, which is on average 400 m. Here, the highest point of the municipality is achieved with 426 m. Sunk into this plateau is the erosion valley of Audeux also heard its lowest section to Pont- les -Moulins. History

In the Middle Ages Pont- les -Moulins belonged to Kastlanei tree. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. In the 19th century Pont- les -Moulins developed thanks to the water power of the Cusancin to an industrial site with iron and timber processing and dyeing.

Population

With 176 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Pont- les -Moulins is one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1881 229 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

The economic life of Pont- les -Moulins was marked by the forging tool and dye works in the 19th century. Today is a steelindustry workshop in operation. There are also some plants of the local small business sector. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Baume- les -Dames after Ornans. Further road links exist with Cusance and Villers -Saint -Martin.
