Bretigney

Bretigney is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Bretigney is located on 390 m, about 12 km west of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located on a plateau north of the Doubstals, at the beginning of a valley west of the Mont Truchot.

The area of ​​1.83 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the hills north of Doubstals. The central part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Bretigney, located at 400 to 420 m. It is partly passed with arable and meadow land, partly with forest and is bordered to the west of the valley floor of Faimbe. East of the village takes the hollow of a Trockentals its beginning, which leads to the Doubs Valley to the south. To the east extends the church floor to the forest height of Mont Truchet, on the 455 meters, the highest elevation of Bretigney is achieved. The whole area shows no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground of the Causse.

Neighboring communities of Bretigney are Faimbe and Montenois in the north and in the south Beutal.

History

Since the Middle Ages Bretigney belonged to the Counts of Montbéliard, the 1565, the Reformation introduced. With the occupation of that county, the village came in 1793 final in French hands. Today Bretigney is part of the municipal association Communauté de communes des Isles du Doubs.

Population

With 82 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Bretigney is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the area of ​​23-50 people, a continuous population growth was recorded since the early 1980s.

Economy and infrastructure

Bretigney was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Faimbe after Montenois. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 14 km. Another road connection with Beutal.
